As an Unmanned Aircraft Pilot & Engineer you will be reporting to the Head of Flight Operations. This exciting role will place the right candidate at the forefront of unmanned air systems (drone) development in the UK. We seek an experienced and competent radio control or drone pilot with both fixed wing and VTOL flying skills and the technical skills to support development engineering on company unmanned systems. You will join our friendly team of software, aerospace and electronics engineers, aviation specialists and support staff in a small but rapidly growing company leading the way in this exciting field.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess excellent RC flying skills on both fixed wing and VTOL systems and hold, or be capable of, achieving BMFA A or B certificate or other recognised national qualification.

Essential

  • RC flying skills on both fixed wing and VTOL systems
  • Construction and maintenance of model aircraft or unmanned aircraft
  • Understanding of radio control and autopilot control technologies
  • IT Literate
  • Understanding of drone legislation as applied in the UK

Highly desirable

  • An interest in robotics or autonomy
  • An interest in computers

Desirable

  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping technologies such as 3D printing and laser cutting

Personal

  • British Citizen (must be capable of passing UK Security Clearance)
  • Ability to live near and work in Salisbury, Wiltshire UK
  • Ability to commit to occasional national and international travel

Embedded Systems Programmer

As an Embedded Systems Programmer you will be joining the SkyCircuits team developing, designing and manufacturing advanced avionics systems including autopilot and ground station systems for unmanned aircraft.

QUALIFICATIONS

An upper second-class (2:1) or above BSc or Masters Honours degree in an Engineering or Science subject.

Essential

  • Experience in microcontroller programming in C/C++ or Ada
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English

Highly desirable

  • Experience in interfacing microcontrollers to external components (e.g. sensors) using SPI, I2C, UART and/or CAN
  • Experience in programming on a RTOS
  • Model-based design using Simulink
  • Experience with flight control systems
  • Ability to work to DO-178C Level A

Desirable

  • Use of ARM and Cortex-based microcontrollers
  • Programming of a desktop application to interact with a microcontroller-based system
  • Knowledge of PID controllers & Kalman filters
  • Drive to write clean code
  • Experience in the use of GIT
  • General interest in aviation, particularly unmanned aviation

  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Attention to detail and continuous test and evaluation at all stages of programming
